MICHAEL FIRPO

Head Teaching Professional
Riverside Golf Academy

Executive Director
The First Tee of Fresno

I am a Fresno native who grew up playing golf at Riverside and Airways golf courses. I graduated from Bullard High School in 1983 where I played three years of varsity golf. I started playing and teaching professionally in 1993.

Teaching golf is a passion that I have always had and I enjoy coming to work each day. I have had the benefit of learning how to teach from some of the top instructors in the industry and have combined that with my own knowledge to create a philosophy of learning for every type of player. I have worked with players of all abilities from beginners to P.G.A. tour players and I know I can help you. The key is to customize each program to fit the individual taking the lessons. Find out what the player's goals are and work to surpass them. I also have the pleasure of working with people who have suffered a stroke and are working on regaining their old form, or learning golf as a form of rehabilitation.

Previously, I have held positions as an Assistant Golf Professional and as a Head Golf Professional. I was named Ping Club-fitter of the year in 1997 and I was honored by our local chapter of the P.G.A. in 2004 for my work with junior golfers. I am also currently the Boys' golf coach at Bullard High School.
